Barcelona absorbs shock Malcom injury

MADRID (Reuters) - Spain's Malcolm de Oliveira has suffered a sprained ankle injury and has been immediately monitored by the medical team to assess his absence, according to Spanish reports.

The player will be out for only a week, which has made Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde breathing a sigh of relief that the coming period will not witness matches for the team.

The players were given three days of rest due to the international downtime, which will see the teams call their prominent players for international matches.

Barcelona, meanwhile, was keen to keep up with Denis Suarez, who has been out of action for weeks because of injury, and is expected to join Real Sociedad on 15 September.

Barcelona had beaten Huesca in the third round of the Spanish Liga 8/2, and topped the table with a goal difference from Real Madrid after equal to each with 9 points each.
